Guillermo Kuitka

LOVE LOVE LOVE his work.
he "used 20 child sized beds aligned in irregular rows. placed low to the floor and further dwarfed by the severity of the white box gallery they stand in."
"the beds evoke the lonliness of a shelter, the anonymity of a hospital."

The appearance of this dirty grey over the childlike design of teddy bears and flowers gives a sense of loss,  and perhaps innocence?
Maybe the dirty grey wash over a representative of innocence has a connection with germany's history. The maps are of Germany.

Love this broken and separated map.

Reflections! eek!!

So reflections were something that caught my eye on all of these bus journeys.. I just had to do something about it, so i did :P
Done with chalk pastels, first time using them in my life!

Done in charcoal, i liked the chalky look so why not...

Line drawing of the same image, I think its the most interesting of all

paint and a layer of acetate over the window part (makes sense right?) and then the reflection itself painted on in  acrylics. It looked great in my head before i did it but the end result sucks! :L
Maybe i should have used glass paint?

More of Stephen Walter..

Who i think is unreal!
Can you imagine how long this took!!!!
now that is dedication..

He's just the master of repeated patterns!

My favourite!

Genius

Stephen Walter did some really cool stuff with maps..
he mapped the city of London through his own personal associations and memories, which is what i planned to do with my drawings eventually, except Walter did this with words.

He also had a really cool website so check it out :) --> http://stephenwalter.co.uk/drawings/draw35.php

a little creeping never did any harm.. really

Just some of the many many photographs i take..
I have a whole memory stick full by now!

Just a random housing estate i passed by everytime i went on the bus.

Just a random car.

I started to think about the motorway vs the country side.
Hmmm....

The blue reflection is of a french text book the guy beside me was reading.. aloud, for 4 hours..

Loving the lights.

and then BAM... reflections!

Layering Layering Layering..

Ok, so I've just had a brain wave..
like Sally butcher, I layer my drawings on top of each other in black and white, so that the eye cannot focus on one thing, just like on a bus. TO DO: record my eye movements while looking out a window..my to do list is about 10 time the size of me by now :/

Things I need to get this project moving

I've been taking tonnes and tonnes of very quick sketches of things i pass my on my journey.
Sometimes this, as you can imagine can get extreeeeeeeeeemly frustrating as they go by so quick, but i stopp trying to make sense of the pictures and stopped putting them in a logical order. Now these sketches are illogical and the images are on top of each other.
These are some sketches that i did in charcoal  pencils.

A drawing of my own reflection taking a photo of things that pass me by. Done in indian ink.
Some drawings I dont even get to finish. I cant decide if that adds to it or takes from it.

An extreemly fast sketch of the busy streets of Dublin.

                                                              Limerick city sketches

Sally Butcher

I love how sally butcher layers different images to make one distorted image.
It reminds me of different memories layering upon each other, and how some memories are darker and more distuinguished than others, which we only remember vaguely.
This is how i remember everything i see on my journey. Some images, i remember well, where as other sketches i took i only remember because i drew them. I dont remember where I took it, or what i was thinking when i took it, where as the sketches that i remember distinctly doing stand out in my mind and I could tell you every detail about what i was doing, thinking or saying when i was drawing.

music video me :)
