here it goes!

So after finding my footing I finally started.
I tried to imitate how the builders created the image that inspired me by using cardboard templates to push down on plaster. I wanted the plaster to emerge just as the expanding foam did.

but funnily enough it was the marks that were left on the cardboard that  was really interesting. i also note how the tools  that create pieces of work never get the credit. Just as rachael whiteread drew attention to the negative space which is something people never address, I wanted to draw attention to to the objects that are ordinarily ignored.

I then experimented with pushing different things through

experimentation..

experimentation.. something I'm not very good at, but will give it a go anyway! What I hate about it is that alot of the time the "experiments" turn out crap but here it goes anywho..
out of all the pictorial research I did, it was this image which caught my eye.

I loved that it looked like the foam was trying to push out of the grid, and then was just suddenly sawed off.
It was this effect that I tried to explore with the work I did after that.
